Abstract (EN)
This study aims to bring to light the scholars that Erzurum, one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia, raised and educated between 1826-1895 from the old and dusty pages of history and to bring them to the present day and to be useful for local The main source of this thesis is the files of Sicill-i Ahvâl categorized under the title of Erzurum in the Mashihat Archive of the Istanbul Mufti's Office. In the library of the archive, there are approximately 7000 registry files that can be the main source of researchers' studies on Ottoman bureaucrats. The study consists of an introduction, three main chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction, the geography and history of Erzurum and the sources of the study are emphasized. In the first chapter, the organization of ilmiye in the Ottoman Empire and its establishment and development process are explained. In the second chapter, information is given about the officials of the ilmiye organization, both central and provincial, and the process of their existence within the organization. In the third section, the biographies of 44 scholars who were born in Erzurum between 1826-1895 and started their education in Erzurum are listed. The conclusion provides a general evaluation of the study.
