Özet (EN)

Arterial stiffness has an independent predictive value for cardiovascular events in several populations, including patients with uncomplicated essential hypertension. As markers of arterial stiffness; Pulse wave velocity (PWV) and Augmentation index (AIx) are non-invazive methods using to determine the level of vascular injury. In this study, we aimed to study PWV, Aıx and body composition in HT patients and comparing with healty controls groups. We chose 46 HT patients (without known cardiovascular disease except HT) and 56 healty controls were included into this study. PWV and AIx were evaluated by the same operator after 15 minutes rest period (Mobil-O-Graph®). Volume status and body composition of the patients were evaluated by bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS) for detection of hypervolemia. Body composition analysis using the BIS technique [50 frequencies (Body Composition Monitor: Fresenius Medical Care, Bad Hamburg, Germany)] were performed.Median PWV values was 7,0 m/sn in HT patients. 5.95 m/s in healty controls. PWV, AIx, AP values were different between HT patients and healthy controls. Extracellular fluid excess was not different between groups. When we looked at PWV correlation with total body composition, there was a modarete and negative correlation between body fluid, intracellular fluid body, lean tissue mass and there was a modare and positive correlation between over hydration,Conclusion: Arterial stiffness parameters was higher in patients with hypertension, and also observed that arterial stiffness was significant in patients with truncal obesityKey Words: Hypertension, PWV, AIx, Arterial stiffness, Body composition.
