Sin/weakness attributed to the prophets in the old testament and opinion prophety of Qur`an (a comparison)

SUMMARY SÎNS AND WEAKNESS ATTRIBUTED TO THE PROPHETS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT I studied the immoral behaviours and attributed to the prophets in the Old Testament. İn the introduction, I gave information abaut the Old Testament and Talmud which consist of the written and oral tradition of Jewish religion respechively. In the first chapter, Jewish view of propethood was analissed. The terms used to show prophets, the main characteristics of the prophets, the historical development of the prophethood and view of reveletion in the Old Testament are the subject of this chapter. In the secon chapter, description of Jewish view of "sin" was given and the position of prophets with in this understanding was described. Apart from Islamic view, a Jewish prophet hasn't a role of quidance and being a "model" in the Jewish dogma. Sins attributed to the prophets may be divided in two parts: One is the immoral behaviors within the relation of God and prophet, and the other is sins within relation ofthe prophets and his community and the deviations in the personalities ofthe prophets. In the third and fourth chapter, I studied the Islamic view of prophethood and the characteristics of the prophets. According to Islam the prophets are exact models and guides for their communities and for all humanity and they are protected from the sins (the characteristic is called 'ismah), but they have some Short Comings as aresult of being human. In the conclusion, 1 tried to give and explanation about the causes of those attributions of sins to the prophets in the Old Testament, this is mainly becauseof the authenticity problem of the Old Testament and I gave information about the differences betweecn the stories in the Quran and the Old Testament about the same subjects. x IDC. ¥Ü2£SSKÖ?R£TİM KURULU DOKÜMANTASYON MERKEZİ
