Abstract (EN)

Throughout history, the Earth has hosted many nations, and as a result of the development of thought and the ability to comprehend events, certain events have been attributed with sanctity, and even seen as playing a creative role, being regarded as gods, and consequently various things have been deified. The sky has been considered sacred for many reasons such as the movement of clouds and planets, and the falling of rain, suggesting the presence of creative and influential elements. Indeed, elements like the Sun and the Moon have been attributed with sanctity by people due to their effects on the Earth. The Earth, symbolizing fertility, contains many vital resources for humans and animals, and thus Earth Mother is sometimes seen as a kind of underworld due to the burial of the dead. Umay, on the other hand, is a protective Goddess responsible for birth and newborns. This study will focus on elements and concepts that have been considered gods or attributed with sanctity by the Turks throughout Turkish history.
