The comparison of history subjects in the lesson of primary social sciences old and new curriculum and text books

In this research, similarities and differences are tried to be brought to light as comparing the subjects of history with regard to the method and the content in the lesson of primary school old and new programme and in the textbooks.Therefore, this study centered on both curriculum and textbooks.This research carrying the quality of a literature sutdy consist of five basic parts as; introduction theoretical descriptions and its related researches, technique, verities and explanations, conclusion and suggestions.To reach the aim and the sub-aims of this resarch, studies about publications and tpics have been searched; in the framework of the obtained verities, the historical subjects in the old (1998) and new (2004)curriculums and determined textbooks are compared with regard method and content and in this resarch we reached to that results.In the former curriculum and the textbooks, the content of history subjects is excessive and far fom sutudentn?s needs, ın the former curriculum and the textbooks, history subjects are mostly focused on political and military history, the presentation of subjects is contrary to chronological order, the style of presentation of subjects is monotonous and has features of scientific history which doesn?t fit the level of students, this puts the teacher in the centre and makes the students inaffective, in the former textbooks, visual materials are carelessly choosen and pedagogically insufficent, in the new curriculumand textbooks, the content of subjects is presented a long with interesting examples oral and local history methods are employed in teaching of history, ıt is determined that the visual materials are coohesen more carefully and units evalution sections are made more functional.Key Words: Social Sciences, Textbooks, History Subjects, Curriculum.
