Acoustic inventory study of halls in Eskisehir and acoustical comfort evaluation of A. U. AKM Opera and Ballet Hall

In the design of the auditoriums, where the functions for listening are performed, in view of the desired performance of the activities of these halls, acoustical criteria should be prioritized as functional and aesthetic criteria. In our country, especially in big cities, construction of halls needed for volume acoustics design begin to increase. Undoubtedly the current acoustic qualities of these halls is influencing the comfort of the artist and audience during events. That's why determining whether these rooms include acoustic criteria in the design process, documentation of available acoustic qualities of halls and development of improvement proposals for these halls if necessary is important. In this context, in the scope of the thesis, firstly the existing halls in Eskişehir, which is a metropolis, were identified and an inventory was prepared giving basic information about the auditory quality of these halls. As a result of the information obtained, the result is that acoustic criteria are not sufficiently included in the design process. Anadolu University Atatürk Cultural Center Opera and Ballet Hall was chosen to investigate volume acoustics and develop improvement recommendations. Selected hall was examined objectively by using the field measurement method and subjectively by using survey application method in terms of volume acoustics and it was evaluated. After establishing the calibration model of the room in the Odeon program with the acoustic modeling method, a suggestion design for the acoustic improvement of the room was developed and it was evaluated by the program.
