Abstract (EN)

This study is aim to kinematic evolution, seismicty and remote sensing studies of the Eskisehir Fault (EF), which is one of the main active faults in the northwestern Anatolia elongated a 150 km long with the WNW-ENE to E-W trending between Bursa and SE Eskisehir. EF represent a right lateral widespread intra-continental fault zone, which is separated from central Anatolian block than Aegean extensional province. Regional NW-SE directed compresion has been determined from the bedding of the rock units and lianement analysis of the Palsar image by remote sensing studies. Kinematic evolution of this fault determined from inversion of both measured fault-slip vectores and earthquake focal mechanism solutions. The inversion of slip vectors measured on fault planes indicates that the right lateral strike-slip stress regime is dominant having a consistent NW-trending sHmax (s1) and NE-trending sHmin ? (s3) axes. This stress regime changes old transpressional to young transtensional probably in Quaternary time. Also, the earthquake focal mechanism inversions confirm that the regional transtensional stress regime, which continues into recent time. However, local consistent NE-trending sHmin ? (s3) extension directed the normal faulting regime shows in related with the development of the İnönü and Eskisehir basins.Kinematic evolution and/or change in the stress regime probably is resulted from (1) coeval influence of the forces due to the subduction processes along the Cyprus and Hellenic arc in the south, (2) continental collision Anatolia/Arabian plate in the east, (3) anti-clockwise rotation and (4) westward escape and/or extrusion of the Anatolian Block.Key Words: Eskisehir Fault, Kinematic Analysis, Inversion, Earthquake, Remote Sensing
