Özet (EN)

The food and fluid consumption status of individuals can affect their quality of life. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the food and liquid consumption status and the quality of life of 245 civil servants, 94 of whom were female (%38.4) and 151 were male (%61.6), aged between 20 and 65, working in the Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of National Education, Tepebaşı and Odunpazarı District National Education Directorates. The general characteristics, health status, anthropometric measurements, nutritional habits, fluid consumption knowledge levels, fluid consumption frequencies, quality of life (Short Form-36 scale) and nutritional status, food consumption records (3 days and 24 hours) of the individuals were evaluated. According to the Turkish Nutrition Guide, the percentage of energy from carbohydrates (42.1±7.4% in males and 39.0±6.7% in females) was below the recommended level, while the percentage of energy from protein (15.7±2.6% in males and 16.5±3.3% in females) was at the recommended level, and the percentage of energy from fat (41.8±7.1% in males and 44.3±5.6% in females) was above the recommended level. The most consumed fluids are water and black tea, in that order. The subscale of physical role limitations, which is a sub-dimension of the quality of life scale, was found to be statistically significant in relation to alcohol consumption (p<0.05). By increasing awareness among employees regarding adequate and balanced nutrition, sufficient fluid intake, and physical activity, both work efficiency can be improved and individuals can be protected against chronic diseases, thus reducing societal healthcare expenses. In this study, the relationships between the nutritional and fluid intake status of employees and the sub-dimensions of the quality of life scale were evaluated. Further research is needed to examine the relationship between nutrition and fluid intake status and quality of life.
