Relative efficiency measurement of Anatolian high schools in Eskişehir

Efficiency, which is described as the ability to use the resources rationally and benefit from these resource to their extent, is one of the most important dimensions of the performance. Efficiency measurement in the secondary schools providing education and training services is conducted to determine whether these schools use their resources efficiently or not. Main methods used in efficiency measurement are ratio analyses, parametric and non-parametric methods. In this study, efficiencies of Anatolian High Schools in Eskisehir for the year 2013 have been measured by using Data Envelopment Analysis which is a linear programming based and a non-parametric method used for measuring efficiency of decision making units with multiple inputs and outputs, relatively and independent from the measurement units. In the study, overall efficiency scores of Anatolian High Schools have been calculated by output oriented CCR model and technical efficiency scores are calculated by output oriented BCC model. As a result of relative efficiency measurement conducted by determining three inputs and three outputs, which are common for all Anatolian High Schools and describe education process successfully, some information has been given about the improvements that should be made for inefficient Anatolian High Schools in order to be efficient.
