Examining the opinions of educators working in private preschools in Eskisehir about inclusion

The purpose of the present study was to examine the opinions of teachers and administrators who were working in private preschools in Eskişehir about inclusion. The study was conducted with 26 voluteer teachers and administrators. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants and the data were analyzed descriptively.The results of the study revealed that, neither teachers nor administrators had sufficient information about children with special needs. Especially teachers who had negative thoughts about inclusion mentioned their needs about the information about children with special needs.Results gathered from the study derived some suggestions. One of the most important suggestions is about providing sufficient information about children with special needs to the teachers, school administrators, school personnel, parents of children with special needs and parents of normally developing children. Participant teachers mentioned that the courses they took during their undergraduate degrees were not enough to provide appropriate education to children with special needs. Therefore, regular informative seminars, panels and meetings should be held for all the related people. Besides, providing a special education teacher in the schools where there are student with special needs are placed can be suggested.
