Abstract (EN)

Karacahisar Castle lies in 7 kms. southwest of modern Eskişehir city center and 11kms. southwest of Dorylaion. It is founded on the west end of hill which is near Porsukbrook. North, south and west sides of hill is too steep. So entrance of castle is located on theeast side. Karacahisar Castle surrounds 200x300 m. area.Today Castle is still towards on set near the village called Karacaşehir. Karacahisarhas an strategical importance as its field. It seens as a lookout place whick is dominant toEskişehir plain, Porsuk valley and roads reached to Eskişehir. Due to these featuresKaracahisar became an important part of communication and defence system at the Byzantineperiod.During the excavation lots of glazed pottery fragments was found. Classification andevaluation these pottery fragments will be useful to identify Phrygian region Byzantinepottery. Most of the ceramic finds pertaining to 13-14. century has `transition era? properties.These ceramics didn?t leave their Byzantine character and also has traces came from the newoccupants of Anatolia.
