Abstract (EN)
Tram systems differ from other rail systems in terms of system characteristics (line, vehicle, ticketing, etc.).As is known, when planning public transport systems, travel demands are taken into consideration. By using these data that are obtained from the sources such as existing situation analysis and Transport Master Plan model, relevant decision is made for selecting the right system according to the increase amount in the future passenger travel demand. In order to meet the calculated travel demands, capacity calculations are made and appropriate public transportation system is decided. In the next stage, the financial situation, the credibility and the use of the shareholders' equity are reviewed and the system selection is made and project studies are carried out toward implementing the chosen system. In terms of features such as capacity, ticketing systems, maintenance and pricing systems, Tram system applications are used in Kayseri, Samsun, Konya and Gaziantep provinces which have similar features with Eskişehir. The tram system is one of the world recognized throughout the system, but there have been some problems in practice throughout Turkey. Eskişehir is one of the provinces where the students are the most, therefore, it is very important for the use of trams and it is one of the most important cities where a properly functioning tram system is needed. In this study, considering the advantages and disadvantages of tram systems in Eskişehir and various provinces, this study was designed to be the most preferred public transportation system of the tram system in Eskişehir. Within the scope of this study, considering the advantages and disadvantages of the Eskişehir tram system against the alternative provinces systems, in order to maintain its position as a 'preferred public transportation system' in Eskişehir ; the intended improvement works on the system have been defined by considering the demands of government as 'INVESTOR' and the requirements of the passengers as 'USERS', and with "Quality Function Deployment" (QFD) implementations based on the system technical features. As a result, relevant recommendations are made for system improvements and in order to ascertain tram system as the preferred public transport system in Eskişehir, required system features to be improved are put forward.
