Esra Turkekul This study, in which the Grand Bazaar Murder and Cadibostani Murder novels are examined by the close reading method, considering the elements of the detective novel such as crime, criminal, detective, police, crime scene, crime tool, and the way the murder is committed, consists of two parts. It is important to focus on the concepts of popular culture and popular literature in the first part, in order to draw a theoretical framework for a better understanding of the detective novel, which is a genre that develops around popular culture and forms the basis of the study. However, in order to understand the development of detective novel in the historical process, information is given about its development in world literature and Turkish literature. In the second part of the thesis, Türkekul's two novels are analyzed by close reading method. The fact that no academic study has been carried out on Türkekul 's works so far and there are gaps in the literature increases the importance of the study . Turkekul's In the second part, in which the literature of the detective fiction is discussed and the characteristics of the detective fiction are examined, comparisons are made with other detective novels in Turkish literature, the main character of which is a female detective, and the innovations that the author has brought to crime-specific elements are revealed. It has been determined that the author's novels include topics such as workers' rights, racism, educational problems, and urban transformation, adding depth and a new approach to detective fiction.
