Abstract (EN)

There are a lot of studies to reduce the external dependency of our country for fuel demand. The microalgae's ability to present biodiesel at high efficiency and to be environmentally sensitive is a trigger for this thesis study. It is aimed to provide additional contribution to our country's petroleum needs, to improve domestic production and to increase the economy of our country. In this thesis, methly ester was produced from microalgae (Chlorella protothecoides) oil. In the Production processing, transesterifaciation method was used by the author. Optimization studies were carried out and analyzed for optimal high yield biodiesel production. Biodiesel production was carried out by transesterification reaction was performed by using microalgae oil as feedstock, sodium methilate as the catalyst and methanol. Ethanol with purity min. 99.8% was blended with biodiesel (Chlorella protothecoides microalgae methly ester) with the volumetric ratio of 5%, 10% and 15%. Fuel properties of microalgae methyl ester was tested in TS EN 14214 biodiesel standards and biodiesel-ethanol blends were analysed. Investigated of effects of biodiesel and biodiesel-ethanol blends on exhaust emissions and diesel engine performance and they were compared with diesel fuel. Generally biodiesel-ethanol blended fuels caused a increase in engine power and torque values, the emission values of the engine using microalgae biodiesel and blended fuels were improved.
