A field research about the effects of transformational and transactional leadership behaviors on organizational identification and job satisfaction

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impacts of transactional and transformational leadership styles perceived by employees on their organizational identification and job satisfaction.In the introduction section, the importance of concepts of the leadership, organizational identification and job satisfaction are mentioned as the main subjects of the study.In the second section, the definitions and the explanations about the variables of the study were explained. Leader is a guide who helps individuals to develop themselves and their qualities by observing their own position. In this regard, the leaders have an important impact on organizational identification and job satisfaction of employees in the organization. Especially the modern leadership styles such as the transactional and transformational leadership styles are focused on within the scope of this study. Also in this section organizational identification, its antecedents and consequences were discussed since it is a newer concept than the other two variables the study. Lastly in this section, the definitions, importance and antecedents of job satisfaction concept were mentioned.In the third section of the study, data related with the methodology of the research were given. The data collection method, the questionnaires used in this study, statistical analyses and results were discussed also in this section. The results of factor analyses, correlation analysis and regression analyses conducted for testing the research hypotheses and the data gathered from the firms operating in the food and construction sectors in Bolu were evaluated. Participants of the research were 352 employees from five companies.In the final part the general results of the research and suggestions for managers and future studies were provided.In the findings tranformational leadership was found to have positive and direct effects on organizational identification. But transactional leadership was found to have no significant effect on organizational identification. Tranformational leadership and transactional leadership were both found to have positive and direct effects on job satisfaction. Organizational identication was found to have positive and direct effects on the job satisfaction. Thus the result provide important contributions to literature both from practical and theoretical percpectives.Key Words: Transactional Leadership, Transformational Leadership, Organizational Identification, Job Satisfaction
