Abstract (EN)

This thesis is aimed to determine the steps to be followed and the essential criteria to be considered in the interactive e-book design process for children. Accordingly, first of all, the historical development process of the book and e-book technology was elucidated to define e-book technology. The influence of technological developments on the design and production of children's picture books is discussed. As a result of all these developments, the utilization of e-book technology, which has started to be assessed as educational material for children, as an educational tool has been discussed thoroughly. The basic steps to be followed in the interactive e-book design process and the core principles to be considered in the design process were determined by examining the theories and previous research conducted by experts. The importance of user-centered interface design is emphasized to develop an application that works effectively and efficiently in terms of user experience. The criteria to be considered in the interface designs developed for children were determined by focusing on the major differences between children and adults. The design process of multimedia elements was evaluated in line with Richard E. Mayer's ¨Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning ¨and the basic principles he put forward. Interactive e-book applications designed with Skeuomorphism and the Flat design approach were compared in terms of user experience.
