Computer aided thermal analysis of domestic refrigerators

In the present study, thermal and flow analysis of refrigeration compartment of a domestic traditional refrigerator by adding two inlet vents and an outlet is conducted by the mean of a special computaional fluid dynamics (CFD) software which uses control volume formulation and results are considered. At first, the refrigeration compartment of the refrigerator is modelled in three dimensional by the mean of Pro-Engineer Wildfire 3.0 (version 3) which is three dimensional parametric modelling software. A numerical study is conducted by means of the producer company introduction. A numerical study is conducted using simplified model of a frost-free freezer that is prepared by the mean of Pro-Engineer Wildfire 3.0 (version 3) which is three dimensional parametric modelling software, that is taken from the producer company. Three unstructured mesh is generated by the use of ANSYS CFX-Mesh for each model. Simulation model is described for these three mesh by the use of ANSYS- CFX, finally thermal and flow analysis is conducted. Analysis is conducted for mixed convection conditions for refrigerator compartment and either forced convection or mixed convection conditions are considered. Velocity field, temperature field and numerical values about them are discussed.
