Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between marital adjustment, child rearing attitude and family functioning of individuals with married and children. The model created based on the literature was tested with the research. Also in the study, the differentiation status of marital adjustment, family functioning and child rearing attitude according to gender, age, type of marriage, duration of marriage, family type and number of children were examined. For this purpose, a quantitative and descriptive research was conducted. The research was carried out based on the correlational survey model. The study group of the research consisted of 697 individuals with married and children who were selected by a convenience sampling method from a medium-sized city in the Central Black Sea Region. The study group consisted of 424 (60.8%) women and 273 (39.2%) men. The data were collected from the participants by using the Marital Adjustment Test (MAT), Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Parent Attitude Research Instrument (PARI). The data were analyzed through IBM SPSS 23 and AMOS 24 programs. In the analysis of research data, the correlations between variables were calculated by Pearson correlation analysis. The level of interaction of variables was examined using the structural equation model. The differentiation status of the variables according to gender, age, type of marriage, duration of marriage, family type and number of children were examined by independent sample t test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). According to the research results, there are a negative relationship between child rearing attitude and family functioning and a positive relationship between family functioning and marital adjustment. At the same time, child rearing attitude has a significant impact on family functioning and family functioning on marital adjustment. According to other findings of the study, marital adjustment, family functioning and child rearing attitude differ according to gender. However, it was found that the participants' marital adjustment, family functioning and child rearing attitude did not differ according to the age variable. In addition, according to the results, family functioning and child rearing attitude of individuals with married and children differ significantly according to the type of marriage, duration of marriage, family type and number of children. These findings obtained from the research are thought to contribute to the literature on marital adjustment, family functioning and child rearing attitude and marriage and family counseling.
