Evaluation of married women's knowledge levels and behaviors about family planning methods

This research was designed as a descriptive study in order to evaluate the knowledge levels and behaviors of married women about family planning methods. The research was conducted with 154 married women between 01.04.2022 and 01.07.2022 in primary health centers in Al-Rifai District of DhiQar Governorate of Iraq. In order to test the intelligibility of the questionnaire items to be used, a preliminary application was made with 20 married women who met the inclusion criteria. Data collection was done face to face by the researcher. According to the results of the research, 26% of the women are between the ages of 30-34, 57.1% are high school graduates, 58.4% are housewives, 53.2% have income. Equal to expenses, 48.1% live in the district, 64.9% have 1-5 children, 48.1% have been married for 1-5 years. 65.6% of women have family ‎ It was determined that 13.6% of them used intrauterine device, 38.3% of them used pills and 11.7% of them used injection methods. It was determined that as the age, education level and income of the women increased, the level of family planning knowledge increased (p<0.05). In addition, it has been determined that housewives have less information about family planning than employees, women living in the district, and women with more children than those living in the city center. (p<0.05). Depending on these results, in order to increase the knowledge level of the society on reproductive health, innovative, comprehensive and educational programs on family planning should be developed, and it should be aimed to ensure the participation of as many women as possible.
