Abstract (EN)
Within the scope of this study, it was aimed to examine whether the tendency to cheat and cognitive distortions about relationships have a predictive effect on the level of marital satisfaction of married teachers. The sample of the study consisted of 381 married teachers working in Şahinbey and Şehitkamil districts of Gaziantep. In the study, Personal Information Form to collect data on the demographic characteristics of married teachers, Marriage Life Scale (EDS) to measure the level of marital satisfaction, Cheating Tendency Scale to measure the level of infidelity tendency, and Cognitive Distortions Scale for Relationships to measure cognitive distortions related to relationships. ) used. Independent Sample t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Regression methods were used in the analysis of the obtained data. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the tendency to cheat and cognitive distortions related to relationships were significant predictors of marital satisfaction. With the analysis, it was concluded that the tendency to cheat and cognitive distortions related to relationships explained 30% of married teachers' marital satisfaction. At the same time, it has been determined that there is a negative significant relationship between marital satisfaction and tendency to cheat, between the tendency to cheat and cognitive distortions related to relationships, and between cognitive distortions about relationships and marital satisfaction. In terms of personal variables, while marital satisfaction differs significantly according to age, duration of marriage before marriage, duration of marriage and number of children; It was determined that there was no significant difference according to gender, age at marriage, perceived socioeconomic level and type of marriage. While the level of cheating tendency differs significantly according to gender, age, duration of pre-marital cohabitation, duration of marriage and number of children; It was determined that there was no significant difference according to the age of marriage, perceived socioeconomic level and type of marriage. It is among the results obtained that cognitive distortions related to relationships differ significantly according to the variable of the duration of the relationship before marriage.
