The investigation of the relationship between marital adjustment and facebook jealousy

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between marital adjustment and Facebook jealousy in married individuals. In this study, descriptive model is applied. The sample of this research consists of 452 Facebook users married individuals living in central districts of İzmir province in 2018 and participating in this study voluntarily. In this study, three data collection tools were used, namely the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) to measure the marital adjustment of the sample, the Facebook Jealousy Scale (FJS) to measure the Facebook jealousy level of the sample and finally the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher to collect demographic information. In this study it is found that there was a negative and significant relationship between marital adjustment and Facebook jealousy in married individuals. Findings about the relationship between marital adjustment and some demographic variables are as follows; while the marital adjustment of married individuals does not show a significant difference according to gender, it differs according to the type of marriage and the length of marriage. The marital adjustment of the love-marriage was significantly higher than the marital adjustment of the arranged-marriages. In addition, in the first 5 years of marriage, it was revealed that marital adjustment was higher than the other marriage period ranges. Findings between Facebook jealousy and some demographic variables are as follows; while the Facebook jealousy levels of married individuals does not show a significant difference according to gender and the length of marriage, it differs according to the type of marriage. It was determined that the Facebook jealousy level of the arranged-marriages was higher than the Facebook jealousy level of the love-marriages.
