Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationships between marital adjustment and psychological well-being, difficulty in emotion regulation and spousal support. The research was carried out with a total of 413 people, 57% of whom were women (236) and 43% were men (177). The Demographic Information Form prepared by the researcher was applied to the participants, together with the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS), Spousal Support Scale (SSS), and Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). ANOVA and t-test were used to determine whether marital adjustment differed in terms of demographic variables, Pearson correlation analysis to determine the relationships between variables, and multiple linear regression analysis to predict marital adjustment. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that marital adjustment differs according to the variables of age, gender, duration of marriage, age at marriage, age difference with spouse, educational status, perceived socioeconomic level, number of children, type of marriage and duration of relationship with spouse before marriage. While statistically significant relationships were found between marital adjustment and total scores of psychological well-being and spousal support, no significant relationship was found with the total score of the difficulties in emotion regulation scale. Finally, it was determined that marital adjustment was predicted by some demographic variables, Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale-Awareness sub-dimension, spousal support and psychological well-being. The findings were discussed in the light of the literature and suggestions were presented.
