Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between marital life satisfaction of married couples and their perceived parental relationship, psychological resilience and level of faith. This study also investigated if there is a significant difference in marital life satisfaction of married individuals based on their gender. The sample of the study involves married individuals who live in the district of Beylikdüzü, Istanbul. The sample involves 193 (62%) female participants; and 120 (38%) male participants while 1 participant preferred not to declare a gender. (Participants who are range between the ages 17 and 69). Marital Life Satisfaction Scale (Çelik, 2015), Perceived Parental Relationship Scale (Çelik and Öziş, 2016), Brief Psychological Resilience Scale (Akın, Sahranç, Turan, Akın, Kaya, and Ercengiz, 2014), the Santa Clara Strength of Religious Faith Questionnaire (Akın and others, 2014) and a Personal Information Form were used as data collection tools of this study. Hypotheses of this study were tested using correlations, independent samples t test and regression analysis. The results of the study revealed a significant relationship between marital life satisfaction, perceived democratic behavior towards mother and indifferent behavior towards father in a perceived parental relationship, psychological resilience and strength of religious faith. It was found that married individuals with perceived democratic behavior towards mother have a higher level of marital life satisfaction while married individuals with perceived indifferent behavior towards father have a lower level of marital life satisfaction. Nevertheless, it was shown that married individuals with a higher strength of religious faith have a higher perceived dependent behavior when compared to perceived parental relationship behavior. Perceived indifferent behavior towards the father found to be in a negative correlation with the level of psychological resilience. Finally, a positive correlation was found between strength of religious faith and marital life satisfaction and between level of psychological resilience and marital life satisfaction. The findings of this study were then discussed with regards to the sub problems. Keywords: Marital Life Satisfaction, Perceived Parental Relationship, Psychological Resilience, Strength of Religious Faith.
