Evliya Çelebi's travel book evaluation of agricultural products and their distribution within the bordersof Turkey

In this study, Evliya Çelebi's travel book is discussed. Although Evliya Çelebi, who lived in the 17th centrury, was not a geoprapher, he describes the places he visited in his travel book and gives inormation on many subjects such as the cultural, political structure of the period, historical structures, the geopraphical events, that took place, the livelihoods of the people, and the agricultural products grown at that time. The travel book of Evliya Çelebi, who contributed to the science of geography with these travels he made, is a very important resource in terms of learning what the agricultural activities of travel book, the author explained the places he visited, and gave information on agricultural geography, which agricultural product were grown at that time, the growing conditions of the products, storage conditions, and the trade of these products, storage conditions, and the trade of these products, along with other general topics in his work. In the part of the Ottoman Empire located within the borders of today's Turkey, the agricultural products grown in the XVIIth century, in which provinces they are grown intensively, product diversity and trade are discussed. Today, the growing areas of these products and their change in terms of diversity have been examined. As a result it has been observed that there has been an increase in the diversity of agricultural products from the XVIIth century when the travelogue was written, with the products brought to Turkey later and grown. Increases have been recorded in the amount of products obtained from the lands with the developing technology. At that time, it has been determined that the importance given to some products such as licorice root and spruce root has decreased today.
