Abstract (EN)
Ayla Kutlu is one of the most distuingished novelists and story writers in Modern Turkish Literature. Her works are deep and wealthy enough to be read and interpreted in various aspects. The value survey is only one of them. The main purpose of this study is to determine social values in the novel called "Cadı Ağacı" by Ayla Kutlu, one of the successful female writers. In accordance with this purpose, the study employed Schwartz Value Scale that is mostly accepted in the literature and used in related academic studies. This study established a theoretical framework by giving a vast amount of information about value concept, the classification, nature and functions of values. During the research, value statements that exist in the works were determined and "Document Analysis" one of the qualitative data collection tools, was employed to that end. The novel "Cadı Ağacı" was handled depending on these criteria. The values in the novel were determined after reading, profiling and classification process and the study employed the theoretifcal frameworks with the aim of explaining these values by giving examples depending on novel . The study results indicated that the novel called "Cadı Ağacı" by Ayla Kutlu is highly wealthy in terms of social values.
