Abstract (EN)
In this study, antioxidant enzyme activity levels of lead (Pb2+), which is a toxic heavy metal, in water mite species, Eylais setosa (Acari, Hydrachnidia), with different enzyme kits (Superoxide dismutase, Catalase, Glutathione Reductase, Glutathione Peroxidase and Glutathione S-transferase) determined. The main purpose of this study is to determine the toxic effect levels of zooplanktonic organisms exposed to heavy metal deposits in inland waters. For this purpose, Eylais setosa samples collected from Işıklı Lake in April, May and June were placed in 4 different aquariums that were created in the laboratory in equal amounts. Pb2 + (10-5 M, 10-4 M and 10-3 M) were loaded into each aquarium at different rates. Live specimens in the aquariums were observed for 7 days. Then, both water and live samples were taken from each aquarium and analyzed with ICP-MS. With these analyzes, the amount of lead absorbed by Eylais setosa samples and the amount of this metal in the aquarium waters where the samples were made were measured. Accordingly, Eylais setosa was found to absorb increasing amounts of lead. Furthermore, antioxidant enzyme activities on these samples were observed using 5 different enzyme determination kits. The results showed that Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Glutathione Reductase (GR) and Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px) were increased (p <0.05), Glutathione S-transferase (GST) and Catalase (CAT) enzyme activities decreased (p <0.05). When the results of the analysis were evaluated, it was observed that the enzyme activities varied in Eylais setosa samples depending on the amount of lead added to the medium.
