Özet (EN)

Boron is, due to forming compounds with carbon and other similar elements, are found as compounds of boron minerals. Industrial production of high-purity boron is carried out in an expensive and difficult process. Depending on the main elements boron minerals contain calcium borate, magnesium borate, sodium borate, sodium-calcium borate and other borate compounds are divided into five main groups. Zinc borate can be synthesized in a laboratory, although not found naturally. The different types of zinc borate is important for reducing the use of inorganic hydrated borate as flame retardant and corrosion. Zinc and boron oxide content to vary depending on their properties and plastic, rubber, ceramics, paint, cable, electrical insulation, wood applications, cement is commonly used in pharmaceutical industry. In addition, synthetic hydrated zinc borate can be classified as metal borates. Zinc borate, as a result of entry of the reaction of boric acid and zinc oxide in the aqueous medium is produced over 70 °C. Zinc borate (2ZnO•3B2O3•3,5. H2O) is one of the many kinds of zinc borate. These compounds at temperatures above 290 OC has a different content, such as water subjected to hydration. This thermal stability, zinc borate flame retardant in plastics and rubbers for high temperature processes are required as an additive makes it attractive. Zinc borate is also used as anti-corrosive pigments in the coating. In this master thesis it was examined a variety of different zinc sources using boron compounds to be reacted with a new method using ultrasonic methods and their effects on the production of the reaction temperature and time. The materials are analyzed with X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopy techniques. Finally, the surface morphology and particle size of materials are determined by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). As a result of performed experiments, Set-3 was determined the most efficient set, which is the highest scored products according to the XRD results. In 90°c and 55 minutes, the score was obtained 75 in %98 yield. According to the time for realization for the synthesis of the synthesize zinc borates, Set-4 was determined the most efficient set. Synthesis time was reduced from 55 minutes to 40 minutes in this set. In 90°c and 55 minutes, the score was obtained 66 in %98,70 yield. Keywords: Zinc borate, boric acid, zinc oxide, ultrasonic
