Flood hazard analysis based on different resolution data resources: A case of Biga River Basin

Abstract (EN)

The floods present in the Biga River Basin were evaluated according to different resolution surface models and land use characteristics. The DEM in different resolutions of these floods is connected, and consequently, the similarities and differences of the results are discussed. According to these results, the flood distribution-velocity-depth characteristics were evaluated statistically focused on the hazard area. Flood hazards that can be analyzed in the study are planned to place the types of data in different resolutions to be passed at the beginning of Turkey's most recent flood disaster that may come are essential in reducing material and moral damage. The UAV-DEM data generated as a result of the analysis of the images obtained by UAV during field studies is the most sensitive digital terrain model in determining the distribution characteristics of the floods. The UAV-DEM data was the calibration data for the accuracy and accuracy of the study. In this study using low-medium-high resolution data types, the results obtained from the UAV-DEM data were compared with the depth-speed parameters. Gumbel-EV-I method was taken into consideration in flood modeling. While the probability of a 5-year flood in the study area is very high, the occurrence of a 1000-year flood is quite low. The flood model for each frequency of repetition was obtained with different DEM data, and statistically, the closest result to the UAV-DEM flood model was Alos DEM 12.5 m. data. Within the scope of flood hazard analysis, a flood hazard study has been established according to the probability of occurrence of the flood models which are evaluated based on the annual maximum flow data measured for many years. In this context, the hazard assessed within the framework of the probability of floods is mainly formed depending on the depth of the water and the speed factor. It has been observed that the level of danger of these floods, which affect Biga settlement is high, especially in areas where the slope is decreased, especially in the floodplain.
