Numerical investigation of the thermal properties of different dental prosthesis and implant materials

In this study, the implant materials made of materials such as titanium, zirconium, cobalt and gold, and the prostheses made of materials such as zirconium and porcelain mounted on the implants, and the natural tooth were exposed to real-life conditions, for fifty-four different combinations. Numerical solutions were obtained by using Ansys 14.5 software. Thermally, temperature distributions were obtained and interpreted under thermal conditions where there is water flow at 5 oC, 60 oC and air flow at -10 oC. While evaluating the results, it was accepted as a positive criterion that the prosthetic implant duo, which was considered to be at body temperature at the beginning, were affected by the temperature under different thermal conditions, and the evaluations were made according to this criterion. When the numerical solutions obtained from the cases with different prosthesis-implan material combinations were examined, significant differences emerged in the models called Case1, Case8, Case11 and Case 14. It has been concluded that zirconium as a prosthetic material at 5 oC, 60 oC and -10 oC surface temperatures is more successful as it is less affected by temperature than porcelain. The same thermal performance was observed at the prosthesis and implant interfaces. Temperature analyzes of implant screws at 5 oC, 60 oC and -10 oC surface temperatures were obtained by using gold in screw1-2 and titanium in screw3-4 as implant screw in Case11.
