Abstract (EN)

The objective of this study is determine the effects of changes different saturation condition and loading rate on mechanical properties in some sedimantery rocks. In the study sedimentery rock was used which is produced as marble in Eastern and Southern Anatolia Region (Malatya, Adıyaman, Erzurum). In field studies systematic and site samples were collected in location will represent the best of rock mass. Mineralogical, chemical properties were determined by XRD and XRF analysis. According to XRD analysis Malatya Beige and Erzurum Travertine marbles consists mainly of calcite, Adıyaman Emprador marble calsite and dolomite minerals. In the applied XRF analysis it was determined that marbles are composed of CaO. Rock samples are subjected to some mechanical tests (Schmidt hardness, Shore hardness, point load strength test, Brazilian test, Uniaxial compressive strength, P wave velocity) and changes are examined. The uniaxial compressive strength test was carried out at different loading rate for each degree of saturation. It was determined that all strength values decreased with increased the saturation degrees. The greatest reduction was realized on Adıyaman Emprador marble because of comprises more pores. Depending on the increase in loading rate uniaxial compressive strength values also increased. Keywords: Rock Mechanics, Saturation Degree, Loading Rate, Mechanical Properties, Marble
