Abstract (EN)
Aims: To compare a pregnant women group whose have AGCT d uring pregnancy but neither included in to a standard cure program nor follow up procedure with pregnant women having normal glucose l evel and pregnant diagnosis as GDM. The comparisons are based on blood gluc ose profile and perinatal results. For appropriate treatment and fol low up of AGCT group the differences and similarities between groups are determin ed. Material and Methods: Between 01 January 2006 to 01 January 2007, at Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center by the Preg nant Policlinics; pregnant women whom at their 24-28 gestational weeks, their follow up control and delivery done in this center included in to study. A ll pregnants taken 50 gram GCT and whom having positive results given 100 gram OGTT. According to GCT and OGTT results the pregnants divided into th ree groups. The pregnants with normal GCT results grouped as Group 1 (n: 100), pregnants with abnormal GCT but normal OGTT results grouped as Group 2 (n: 100) and pregnants with GDM grouped as Group 3 (n: 100). All t hree groups results compare between each other concerning their demograph ic data, GCT, OGTT results, blood glucose profile before and after deliv ery, perinatal results and maternal complications. Results: In the study the incidence of AGCT was 17,42% and inciden ce of GDM was found 14,57%. There wasn' t any differences be tween all three group concerning their age (p>0,05). Comparison of BMI befo re pregnancy and during 50 gram GTT; the results of AGCT group found higher t han normal group (p<0,05) while there wasn' t any differences between GDM group and AGCT group results (p>0,05). The blood glucose profile of A GCT group' s results during 24 hours and first 24 hours of postpartum peri od found higher than normal group (p<0,05). These results found higher in GDM group when 55 compare to AGCT group (p<0,05). There wasn' t any hyp oglycemic neonate determined during the study. In GDM group three macro somic neonate (3%) determined. This results when compared with normal and AGCT group found higher in GDM group (p<0,05) . In normal and AGCT g roup, there wasn' t need of caesarean section for macrosomia while in GDM group th ree pregnant (3%) due to macrosomia underwent caesarean section. The perc ent of caesarean section found higher in GDM group compare to normal a nd AGCT group (p<0,05). Conclusions: The glucose intolerance in the AGCT group found mild when compared with GDM group, found higher when compare w ith the normal group. For appropriate follow up and correct treatment of A GCT group there is need of a larger study group concerning a long time of pregnan ts follow up, post delivery status and health condition of their neonates. Key words: Abnormal glucose challenge test, Gestational diabetes, Pregnancy.
