Abstract (EN)

The iron and steel sector is of great importance in both Turkey and our province (Iskenderun-Payas-Osmaniye). In this study, it has been tried to coat the cooling bed roles, which is an important part of the hot rolling stage of the iron and steel industry, with diffusion coating methods (TiC coating, boron, boron-titanium) as an alternative to existing flame spray coatings. Samples after coating the optical properties, SEM, EDS, XRD, layer thickness, microhardness and surface roughness of the coatings have been determined. Then, considering the working conditions of shower table roles, 4 different coating layers were subjected to high temperature abrasion and electrochemical corrosion test in 3.5% NaCl solution, and the surfaces were examined by SEM and EDS analyzes and compared with each other and with untreated STKM-13A steel. Based used different coating techniques, a wide range of coating layers with a coating thickness of 5 - 1300 μm and hardness values of 851 - 3179 HV were obtained. Improvement of wear and corrosion resistance of STKM-13A steel has been achieved by the coating processes. The best wear resistance among the coated specimens was obtained with the boro-titanium specimen and the best corrosion resistance was obtained with the flame spray coated specimen. The results of the thesis study showed that: Improving the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the external cooling roller is expected to increase the tool life and reduce the rolling costs of the iron and steel industry and minimize the unplanned stances in the enterprises.
