Abstract (EN)
Various Visual Functions In Different Cataract Types Purpose: Research contrast sensitivity and glare contrast sensitivity testing in patients with different cataract types and its functional visual and impact on the usefulness in the diagnosis of early cataract. Materials and Methods: During the time September 2013 to March 2014,78 patient applied to Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine Department of Eye Diseases Center, who cataract detected and with no another pathology. We made complete ophthalmologic examination, "CSV 1000 Contrast Sensitivity Test (Vector Vision)" and contrast sensitivity and glare contrast sensitivity tests, "CSO Sirius" pupilograf with topography and anterior segment analyzer test.Visual acuity, age and sex were evaluated. Results: 114 eyes of 78 patients were enrolled in the study. 38 patients were female and 40 were male. The mean age of patients was 65.8 ± 8.7. Cataract types When the distribution of eyes 28.1% in the posterior subcapsular cataract (PSC), 7.9% in the central 3mm unaffected cortical cataract (CC), and 9.6% in the central 3mm is affected cortical cataract (CC +) and 54.4% nuclear senile cataract (NSC) were detected. The average corrected visual acuity (CVA) was 0.3 ± 0.2 level. With respect to the type of cataract PSC average 0.3 ± 0.2 in the group, NSC group 0.4 ± 0.3, CC+ 0.2 ± 0.1 in the group, 0.4 ± 0.2 in CC. In all groups glare contrast sensitivity scores were significantly lower than contrast sensitivity. Among all groups, PSC group compared to other groups in glare contrast sensitivity levels lower than contrast sensitivity and it is highly significant. Photopic and mesopic pupil diameter of the patients were recorded and compared with glare contrast sensitivity and contrast sensitivity testing was no significant difference between the groups. Conclusion: Contrast sensitivity testing can provide information about functional visual performance and determine clinically significant visual impairment in cataract patients and it can included in the clinical evaluation. Key Words: Cataract, contrast sensitivity, glare, pupil diameter.
