Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical performance of two different high viscosity glass ionomer cements and a bulk fil composite in different cavity types. Material and Methods: In 146 patients, 360 cavities were restored using three different restorative materials (Equia Forte, Chemfill Rock and Sonic Fill 2). Evaluations were clinically and radiographically evaluated by two experienced physicians at 1 week, 6 months and 18 months according to modified FDI criteria. Statistical analysis of the obtained data was performed using chi-square and Mc Nemar test. Results: At the end of 18 months, in 1 restoration in the class I EF group; 2 restorations were lost in the class II EF group, 1 in the CR group, and 1 in the class V EF group. Significant differences were observed between tooth and restoration in terms of color match in CR and EF groups (p<0.001). In the Class II EF group, 1 restoration showed marginal discoloration. In the Class II EF group, 1 restoration showed impaired marginal alignment. Postoperative tenderness was observed in 3 restorations in the Class I SF group. No secondary caries was observed in any of the restorations. In total, significant differences were found in the EF groups from other materials in terms of fracture and retention (p=0.024). Conclusion: After 18 months, high-viscosity glass ionomer cements showed similar clinical performance to the resin composite material. However, the color match with the teeth was unsuccessful. Different cavity types did not affect the clinical success of the materials. Keywords: equia, chemfill rock, bulk fill composite, glass ionomer cement
