Investigation of the effects of different origin metal scrap on iron steel production

When the steel production methods of the enterprises operating in the iron and steel sector in Turkey are examined, it is seen that the majority of the production is made from electric arc furnaces. In these productions, steel scrap and scrap derivatives are used as the main raw material input. These scraps are brought to our country and to the whole world by different transportation methods. Ship and road transport are among the most used methods. The belief that scraps from different countries have some characteristics of that country is the main target of this thesis. In this thesis, the effects of steel scrap cargo coming to our country from different countries on the production of iron and steel companies operating in the Iskenderun-Osmaniye region on a country basis were examined and modeled with systematic methods. Thanks to these models, some recipes have emerged, and these recipes are aimed to serve as a guide for production. In the tests made; on steel scraps coming from six different bodies, using image processing, artificial neural networks and statistical evaluation devices, the process of obtaining an iron and steel working with scrap, its operating conditions and its effects on product quality were investigated. The mechanical and chemical substances applied to the semi-finished and finished products produced during the use of different school scraps were examined, an evaluation was made between the number of additives made in ladle metallurgy and the amount of electricity used, and the results of grain size and microstructure analysis were obtained.
