Determining the amount of carbon stored in the soil and litter in different stands

Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to know the soil organic carbon content, which is an indicator of soil fertility and vitality, and to examine some other related variables. In the study, pH, electrical conductivity, organic matter, and texture analyzes in the soil, as well as the amount of carbon stored in the soil of Scotch pine and black pine stands located within the borders of Kastamonu Regional Directorate of Forestry, Gölköy Forest Management Chiefdom was carried out. Average pH values in Scots pine stand were 6.19; volume weight 1.08 g/cmᶟ; organic matter 6.64%; electrical conductivity 229.20 µs/cm; carbon ratio of 4.29%; total carbon amount is 39.81 tons/ha; sand content of 53.25%; clay rate was determined as 35.65% and dust rate as 11.11%. In the black pine stand, the average values are pH 6.14, the volume weight is 1.04 gr/cm; organic matter 7.42%; electrical conductivity 256.13 µs/cm; carbon content of 4.41%; total carbon amount is 41.65 tons/ha; com rate 52.16%; clay rate was determined as 35.80% and dust rate as 12.03%.
