Abstract (EN)

Mechanical properties of armor steels should not be changed during weldingprocess. This is the most important factor during welding of armor steels. The factors affect weldability of armor steel should be controlled during joining process. Cooling rate ismore severe than critical cooling rate during welding of armor steel classified in hardable steel. Therefore, hard and brittle martensitic structure can form heat affected zone. To preventthis effect, cooling rate is decreased during welding process. In this study, armour 500 steel was welded with same weldingconditions and, microstructure and mechanical properties of joining zone were investigated at four different pre-heat temperatures. Experimental results showed that, yield and tensile strenght ofweldedsamples were decreased with incrasing the pre-heat temprature. Althought, ductility was increasedwith increasing the tempeature.
