Effects of different organic manures and soil conditioner on the yield and quality of broccoli (brassica oleracea l.var.italica) and carrot (daucus corata l.)

Abstract (EN)

Broccoli and carrot plants were grown on open field conditions in 2 successive years including 4 different seasons by applying fermented farmyard manure (FM), vermicompost (VC), leonardite as a single or its different mixture and chemical fertilizer. Soil pH, EC, organic matter (OM), soil macro nutrients (total N, plant available P, exchangeable K, Ca, Mg), soil micro nutrients (extractable Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu); plant macro nutrients (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S), plant micro nutrients (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, B), vitamin C, nitrate accumulation and antioxidant activity in the edible part of the plant, physical parameters and also the yield were determined. On checking the soil analysis results; for soil pH, EC and OM the %50 FM + %50 L; for macro nutrients the %50 VC + %50 FM and for micro nutrients the %50 L + %50 VC gave the better results. Vitamin C and nitrate accumulation were better in the %50 VC + %50 FM in broccoli and the %33 FM + %33 VC + %33 L in carrot, regarding to antioxidant activity %100 FM for broccoli and %100 VC for carrot were fixed to be the effective applications. Macro nutrient concentrations of the plants were better in the %50 VC + %50 FM, micro nutrients in the %50 L + %50 VC for broccoli and %50 VC + %50 FM for carrots. Plant growth and the yield were higher in the chemical fertilizer application for both, but %50 VC + %50 FM was notably effective within the organic applications Finally, %50 VC + %50 FM could successfully be used for both and be a strong potential for chemical fertilizer.
