Özet (EN)

Purpose: The purpose of the present study is to reveal the effect of Tabata High Intensity Interval Training on aerobic and anaerobic performances. This land- and deep water-based method is performed by moderately active individuals. Method:91 participants, who were composed of 45 men and 46 women aged between 18-25 years, voluntarily took part in the research. After having been asked for demographic information and subjected to anthropometric measurements as well as anaerobic and aerobic performance tests, the participants were randomized into three groups according to their blood group n=33 (M:17 F:16), pool group n=31 (M:15 F:16) and control group n=27 (M:13 F:14).Tabata Training, which consists of calisthenic and plyometric exercises as well as resistance training, was performed three times per week for eight weeks in land- and pool-based groups. Initial values of treatment and control group participants revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between anthropometric measurements and the measurements of aerobic and anaerobic performances. The Paired Samples T-test was used to determine whether there was a significant difference between the pre- and post-test scores, whereas ANOVA was used to identify whether there were any differences between the two or more independent variances. The accepted level of significance was p<0, 05. Results: According to the result of the analysis, anaerobic performance values of male and female participants of the land- and pool-based groups significantly increasedafter eight weeks. As to the aerobic performance values, these increased substantially in female and male participants of the land-based groupand in female participants of the pool-based group. However, only a percentage increase was observed in male participants of the pool-based group. Conclusion:The Tabata Training was effective in the development of aerobic and anaerobic performances.
