Abstract (EN)

Evaluation of gingival crevicular fluid levels of tissue plazminogen activator, plazminogen activator inhibitor 2, matrix metalloproteinase and interleukin 1-ß in patients with different periodontal disease. The interaction between bacterial plaque and host immune system plays an important role in initiation and progression of periodontal disease. The aim of this study was to evaluate both the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) levels of tissue type plasminogen activator (d-PA), plasminogen activator inhibitor-2 (PAI-2), matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) and interleukin -1ß (IL-1ß) and the relationship between these parameters and clinical recordings in aggressive periodontitis (AP), chronic periodontitis (CP) and periodontally healthy control (C) subjects.Systemically healthy 21 CP, 23 AP and 20 C individuals were included into this study. plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), probing depth (PD) and clinical attachment levels (CAL) were recorded and GCF samples were collected. Assays for GCF levels of IL-1ß, MMP-3, d-PA and PAI-2 were cariied out by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA). Data was analyzed statistically.Although there were stastically significant differences in PI, GI, CD and CAL scores between AP and C and also between CP and C groups (p<0,001), there were no stastically significant differences by the meaning of these clinical recordings between AP and CP. There were no statistically significant differences for all of these biochemical parameters in GCF between AP and CP. GCF levels of IL-1ß, MMP-3, d-PA and d-PA/PAI-2 ratios were lower in C compared with both AP and CP (p<0,005) but GCF levels of PAI-2 were higher in C compared with both AP and CP. The positive correlation was found among the GCF levels of IL-1ß, MMP-3 d-PA and PAI-2 and d-PA/PAI-2 ratios.According to our results, the relationship among the GCF levels of IL-1ß, d-PA, PAI-2 and MMP-3 may play an important role in connective tissue destruction and alveolar bone resorption seen in periodontitis. Furthermore, the ratio of d-PA/PAI-2 is changed from health to disease and this change may be important in the periodontal destruction.KEY WORDS: IL-1ß, MMP-3 t-PA, PAI-2, periodontal disease, gingivalcrevicular fluid
