Investigation of buckling strength of axial compression load-bearing fasteners of different profiles, thickness, and length

One of the most important problems of the machinery and construction industry is buckling. One of the important points to be evaluated in buckling is the critical buckling load. In this study, critical buckling loads are calculated for fasteners of different sizes and different material properties. It is aimed to compare the effect of section properties and material change on the buckling load and the consistency of analytical calculations and analysis results. Critical buckling load is calculated for different diameters in solid cylindrical profile for a single fastener. For square and rectangular profiles, the cross section is kept constant and the critical buckling load is calculated by changing the length. These calculations are made primarily analytically. Then, critical buckling load values are obtained from the buckling analyzes made in the ANSYS program. Analytical calculations and analysis results are compared. In the results of working; it has been observed that the profile length, cross section and thickness have a direct effect on the critical buckling load. Analytical results and analysis results give the same values with little differences. Calculations are made according to ten different diameter values for the solid cylindrical profile, and six different length values for the square and rectangular profiles. Critical buckling loads are calculated for each profile shape according to four different material types. In the results section, a comparison of the different types of materials used is made.
