In-vivo evaluation of post endodontic restorations withdifferent restorative materials

Coronal restoration after endodontic treatment is important for success. Restorations after endodontic treatment should prevent the fracture of remaining hard tissues, leakage and provide tooth functions. The aim of this study is to in-vivo evaluate the success of post-endodontic restorations following the use of different restorative materials . This study included 60 subjects within the range of 18-40 age between January 2018 and January 2020. The patients were divided into 3 groups. First group was restored with conventional composite restorations. The second group was treated with fiber reinforced composite covered with conventional composite resin. The third group was restored with endocrowns. The restorations were prospectively examined for 2 years. In group 1, 2 restorations and 1 tooth fractured and 2 polishable surface was detected on one restoration surface. In group 2, 1 restoration fractured and 1 polishable surface was detected. In group 3, there was no destruction in roughness or marginal integrity. For periodontal evaluation; gingival pocket depth, plaque index, furcal involvement, bleeding index, level of mobility, amount of gingival recession, values were evaluated and no significant difference was found between them (p>0.05). There were no marginal discrepancy and no caries in any of the restorations. Patient satisfaction was evaluated both aesthetically and functionally with visual analog scale (VAS) at the last appointment. There was no functionally significant difference between restorations (p>0.05), while, aesthetically, restorations with endocrowns were found to be significantly more successful (p<0.05).
