Özet (EN)

The broad crested weirs are hydraulic structures, used for flow measurement and flow control in open channel flows. The dimensions of these structures are determined by considering the conditions of the upstream flow. In the scope of the thesis, experimental and numerical modeling studies were conducted in order to observe whether the addition of a slope or application of different slopes to the broad crested weir models have any effect on the flow interacting with the weirs. For this purpose, six different broad crested weir models were manufactured. Head over the weirs for forty one discharge value were measured on each model. Experimental models were also solved by ANSYS-FLUENT software, computational fluid dynamics software, with the same scale. Different dimensions were tried in the computational model. Surface of the flow was created using Volume Of Fluid (VOF) method. Heads from the experimental and the numerical models were compared and the values were found to be consistent. Adding slope to the models or applying different slopes has no significant effect on the head over the weirs.
