Abstract (EN)
Overall purpose of this study is to reveal the relationship between high school students' physical activity (FA) levels and their socio-economic status.The long form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire was carried out on the study group. The questionnaire includes the questions about physical activity carried out for at least 10 minutes in the last seven days. In order to determine the socio-economic status of the individuals in this study, Socio-economic level identification survey was carried out, which includes 13 questions and was composed by expert views and scientific studies. High school students in three different areas representing diverse socio-economic status in İstanbul, Pendik constitute the population of our study. 120 males and 124 females, 244 in total, our study group?s age ranges from 14 to 19.In addition to descriptive statistical methods (mean, standard deviation, frequency) to assess the findings from the study, SPSS statistics program has been used while comparing data to carry out chi-square test, one-way varyans analysis (ANOVA), Tamhane's T2 test, KRUSKAL-WALLIS and MANN-WHITNEY U tests. In this study , it has been detected that 11 out of 244 (% 4.5) are inactive, 102 (%41.8) are the minimum active and 131 (%53.7) are hiperactive.As a result, it has been ascertained that inactivity portion of high school studends attending our studies is low and it has been observed that physical activity has a meaningful relationship with gender and mother education variances when physical activity and different socio-economic variances are compared.Key words: Physical activity, high school students, socio-econmic status
