EFFECT OF DIFFERENT TYPE OF POZZOLANS ON MECHANICALPROPERTIES OF CONCRETE(M.Sc. Thesis)Erkan YILDIZGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYMarch 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, the effect of diatomite, blast furnace slag and fly ash as pozzolanicadditives on characteristics of concrete has been investigated. For this purpose,the concrete mixtures have been prepared by replacing these pozzolans in ratiosof 5 %, 10 %, 15 % and 20 % by weight of cement. 10x10x10 cm cubespecimens were produced and cured at 28, 90 and 180 days in laboratory. Then,the compressive strength and abrasion resistance tests have carried out on thesespecimens. Produced concretes were compared with each other as well as withPortland cement (PÇ 42.5) concrete.
