Investigation of environmental subjects in different countries? high school biology programmes

The purpose of this study is to compare the countries?s high school biology education programme according to the environmental issues and state Turkey?s situation in these countries.With this study, the environmental subjects that are existing in different countries? high school biology programmes; are compared to the high school biology education programme?s environmental subjects that is still appllied in Turkish National Education System. For this purpose Canada?s and Singapure?s high school biology programmes are examined as an example.This study is composed of four chapters. In the first chapter ?environment? phenomenon is identified, environmental challenges are mentioned and the importance of environmental education is emphasized. The vital role that biology science is acting in solving environmental problems and the significance of taking place of environmental subjects in biology education, is also stated in the first chapter. The national and international studies, relevant to this study are mentioned in the second chapter. In the third chapter, the environmental subjects in our high school biology programme is exerted and afterwards Canada Ontario Province?s, which can be taken as a good example regarding environmental educatin all through the World, environmental subjects existing in the high scool biology program is investigated. In the forth chapter; environmental subjects that are thaught in Singapur high schools at science lessons is investigated. In the fifth chapter, conclusion and suggestions are taking part. The three countries? high school biology programmes are compared, the conclusions are produced and the suggestions offered in the said chapter.
