Physical function evaluation of the living in different residential areas healthy elderly

Abstract (EN)

Physical function which decreases with ageing is associated with many factors that physical, psychological and environmental. This study was designed to evaluate physical function of healthy elderly living in different residential areas.In this study, 88 people living in cities and 86 people living in the village totally 174 elder people were evaluated. Socio-demographic characteristics were recorded for the elder people. Elder?s physical function to evaluate in the bed to the right and left rotation, supine recumbent position from seated to come, without sitting down to just stand up, chair 5 times to sit up, fifty step walk, 4 step ladder out of performance to perform time stopwatch was measured. To assess physical activity of elders `Compendium? of physical activity scale and to evaluate quality of life the `Nottingham? health profile was used.Women living in villages was completed in 4 steps to climb stairs performance in long-term than those of urban residents (p<0.05). According to the settlement of cases of female gender difference between levels of physical activity was statistically not significant (p>0.05). Women living in villages with higher scores in the emotional reaction when the sub-title, scored lower scores in energy sub-title of `Nottingham? health profile than those live in the city (p<0.05). The men living in the village has been completed to sit in the recumbent position who come back later and get up from the chair's performance more quickly than those live in the city (p<0.05). Physical activity level of the men who lives in villages were higher than in cities (p<0.05). The men lived in the village has taken lower point than those live in the city from the sub-title of `Nottingham? health profile (p<0.05).According to the results of our study, settlement effects physical function.Key words: ageing, residenteal area, physical function
