Abstract (EN)
Nowadays, by means of the differentiation of building needs and diversity, variety has emerged also in the design of structural members. Reinforced concrete systems are widely used in the world as in our country in order to resist load effects on the building elements. Advantages of reinforced concrete structures on the right of design and construction point, make it popular nowadays, the differentiation of needs resulting with the increase in the dimensions of members and construction cost of these elements. The use of steel and composite columns in the reinforced concrete structural system stands out as a good alternative to conventional reinforced concrete systems. In this study, 5 and 13 storey reinforced concrete buildings, with same plan, were analyzed according to 3 different soil classes in Eskişehir with 2019 Turkish Seismic Code. And load resultants for columns are calculated. Using these load values, steel and composite columns were designed in accordance with "Specification for Design, Calculation and Construction Principles of Steel Structures 2016". Also in this study; in case of using different type of columns in analyzed buildings according to 2019 Turkish seismic code, what differences would be resulted in terms of engineering, architectural and construction cost are examined. Also importance of using different alternatives of column types during design is investigated. Keywords: Column, Composite Column, Steel Column, Reinforced Concrete Column
