Abstract (EN)
In this study, the behaviour of buried pipes in unreinforced and reinforced soil under vertical pressure forces is investigated using laboratory model tests. In the model tests, the effects of the parameters of buried ratio of the pipe and distance of pipe to the footing to the bearing capacity behaviour were investigated for unreinforced case. For reinforced case, the effects of the parameters including, lay-out and number of the geogrid layers to the bearing capacity and settlement behaviour were investigated. Also the behaviour of slopes with buried pipes is investigated. At the last part of the experimental study, the uplift behaviour of buried pipes investigated with model tests. FE analysis of the unreinforced test models were carried out by using the FEM program, PLAXIS. The results of numerical studies are compared with the experimental values. After comparing the results of experiments and the numerical studies some practical design parameters were suggested for the relevant foundation engineering applications.
