Abstract (EN)

Phenothiazines are unique groups of hetrocyclic organic agents that are used to treat psychosis and very effective neuroleptic, which clinically block postsynaptic neurotransmission by binding to dopaminergic receptors. Moreover, they showed prominent activity against bacteria especially pathogenic bacteria. Chlorpromazine and levomepromazine a derivative of phenothiazine are studied in this project, useful in the treatment of certain types of porphyria, appears to act as an antagonist for a variety of receptors in the central nervous system respectively. The aim of this study is determination of phenothiazine derivative, by extracting them from tablets as raw material and recrystalize them for purification. Furthermore, we studied the interaction of drugs with different coupling reagents. There were oxidation coupling, schiff bases, deazotisation coupling reactions, blrch of dyes (indirect reactions), and reaction with chromogenic reagents in basic mediums were used to measure the interaction of these reagents with PTZ derivatives. Hence, obtained results indicated that levomepromazine give absorbtion spectra in the ultraviolet region at about 260 nm, and chlorpromazine at about 279nm as well as both drugs gice coloured product after interaction with different reactive agents.
